Coaching a Client in 30 Minutes or Less

Question: If I have to show all nine masteries in just 30 minutes, isn't that kind of artificial?
Answer: This is one of the misconceptions of coaching: That you have to spend lots and lots of time for results to happen. Certainly we've all experienced clients who require more time than others, and that is to be expected. It's one of the reasons we suggest recording many sessions, so you can choose the two most appropriate ones.
The truth of the matter is that when a coach is coaching masterfully, 30 minutes can be more than enough time. Some of the most powerful, elegant and effective coaching happens in less than 30 minutes. Seriously.
When a coach embodies the skill and mastery it requires to coach the client, regardless of the issue or situation, results happen quickly. Though not necessarily implying "fast," it does imply depth. And getting to that depth early in the session will increase the efficacy of the overall session.
How is that accomplished? As I mentioned earlier, it is done by coaching the client. Read John Wooden on how he taught his basketball plalyers. What he told them as their coach, was often less than a half-hour. We can and likely would be more encouraging if we are brief.
